Mine is bigger than yours!

I don't get it...i really, truly do not get people's beliefs in divinity! If Abraham kept his son Ishmael in sight, would we all not be serving just one God? People feel attacked when the topic of religion unfolds and the natural order of progression from an attack is...yup, you've guessed it - getting defensive! I could sit in the presence of clergymen, talking about a show on the telly (lets take 'Girls of the Playboy Mansion' for argument sake)...these god fearing men would participate in a somewhat positive manner, hey, maybe they'll even sing along to that catchy theme song! While we're scrutinizing the telly like hotel housekeeping on a dirty bed sheet, i burp out a comment, "If Bridgette wants to take up Scientology...let her take up 'friggin' Scientology" - and then...there was silence!

With blood shot eyes, and what looks like spume at the mouth of the rhetorician, he blabs "There is no such religion as Scientology...God invented science to help the common man understand him better, not to worship it." And im like...mmmmkkkayyy, so do you think Bridgette looks more appealing in lace or satin?

My point is, people can talk about sexually charged topics...joke around about it, call gay folk by derogatory names - yet, ask a person a simple question about their specific belief system and all hell breaks (for lack of a better word). It's just sad that religion has become this battle to be the best...like two guys in a bathroom urinal saying "Mine is bigger than yours". Let people believe what they'd like to believe...religion is best kept sacred, once commercialized - get the guns ready private, 'cause you're about to defend your higher power.
